Balançoire with attitude plié

I tend to put Balançoire before grand battement because it feels so good to swing out those legs and release the hips after an adagio. It also acts as a dynamic stretch before your battements.

Notes:

  • These plié attitude pulses serve a purpose - as you kick the leg, try to get the head of the femur as turned out as possible, and as lifted high in the hip as possible. The plié allows for more turnout and more lift in the thigh.

  • When going to the side, stay within your rotation! Don't pus out too far to the side, this is a great way to get dancer's hip.

This combo is part of my Frozen follow-along barre for intermediate/advanced!

1-7: 7 balançoire in attitude

8: close in 5th front

1-8: 4 battement side in attitude in plié, ending to the back

1-8: repeat the balançoires but with a straight leg

1-6: 3 whips to the side

7-8: soutenue
