Pre-pointe Exercise - straight leg jumps

Here is an exercise I use in my classes to help dancers really feel their feet while jumping! This simulates the feeling of doing rapid-fire elevé on pointe. They're small jumps, so there is little concern for knee issues. Try on a yoga mat if you run into problems.

plié on count 8; 7 jumps with straight legs and plié and hold, four times.

Dancers who are struggling to maintain turnout, try it in parallel 6th position instead!

You can use a very fast coda or 2/4 jump for this, but most of the time I find most songs just a tad too slow. I'd recommend just having the dancers work without music for this combo.
