Baby Doll

I knew this book would be heavy and dark when I asked for it. I didn't think it would hit me the way it did.

To a certain extent I don't really even want to say anything about this. I honestly just want to tell you to read it, and promise it'll be worth your while.

I love stories that have a messed-up psychological aspect to them; characters who are broken dealing with characters who are not. The dynamic between the two is fascinating. But I also love when you have a book where every character is real; nobody is perfect, everyone has their flaws. They're human. This book matches both of those descriptors.

The writing is good, and very descriptive. It's hard to be descriptive when you're talking about brainwashing, breaking bones, and rape. It's graceful and careful but still descriptive enough to be hard.

If you are ok with violence, and you love psychological questions, and you don't mind pausing the book to just sit there and chew on your thoughts, this one is for you. (recommended to ages 16+)
